Step 3 of 5

Gather your writing template

During Level 2, we'll build a Document Generator that uses YOUR template and produces documents in YOUR voice. To make this work, gather your single best template ahead of time.

Pick the ONE document you write most often

Whichever you have at hand. Don't overthink it — one strong example is all we need to teach Claude your voice.

Examples (just pick one):

  • Demand letter
  • Retainer agreement
  • Client welcome email
  • Intake script
  • Motion you file regularly
  • Settlement demand
  • Fee agreement / engagement letter

How to format it

  • File format: .docx, .pdf, or .txt — any of these work
  • Use the final version — the actual one you use, not a generic sample
  • Don't redact specifics — your template only ever lives on your own computer
  • If your template has placeholders like [Client Name] or __________, leave them — Claude Code will detect them automatically

Where to save it

Create a folder on your desktop called document-generator — lowercase, with a hyphen instead of a space. Save your template file in this folder.

The hyphen and lowercase matter — Claude Code uses this folder name to deploy your tool at Level 2.

Pro tip: If you have time and want to bring more than one, great — but don't let it slow you down. One strong template is plenty to get started.
